Understand the system behind performance
Organizational results emerge from relationships between different elements. Explicit relationships help explain historical performance, examine constraints, and evaluate how different choices could influence future outcomes.
Construct a quantified model of the business
Apply the Strategy Dynamics modeling to build a working digital twin from an empty workspace. Define the scope, identify resources and flows, represent decision drivers, and connect operational relationships with financial outcomes.
Develop, test, and validate the model
Build the model progressively, incorporating constraints, losses, feedback, and financial relationships. Compare its behavior with available evidence and test alternative scenarios to assess if it provides a credible basis for decision-making.
Practical Capabilities for Organizational Value
Apply a structured modeling process
Build a business model through a defined sequence, connecting the performance question with the resources, flows, and operating relationships needed to address it.
Define model scope and timing
Select an appropriate model boundary, planning horizon, and time unit, and explain how these choices support the purpose and reliability of the analysis.
Identify and quantify resources
Determine which resources influence the outcome, define their units and starting levels, and establish the evidence required to represent them within the model.
Represent resource flows
Distinguish resource levels from rates of change, model the flows that increase or reduce them, and examine their contribution to historical performance.
Connect decisions and constraints
Represent how decisions, operating limits, losses, and financial relationships influence the business, making the relevant assumptions and dependencies explicit within the model.
Validate model behavior
Test outputs with historical and current evidence, test extreme conditions, and examine feedback relationships to assess whether the model is suitable for its intended use.
Evaluate choices before implementation
Explore the potential implications of strategic and operating decisions before committing resources, using scenarios that make assumptions and expected outcomes available for examination.
Retain a reusable analytical tool
Maintain a working model that can be updated as information and conditions change, supporting continued analysis beyond the initial question it was developed to address.
Explain projected performance
Connect forecasts with explicit resource and operating relationships, helping decision-makers understand why outcomes are projected and which assumptions have the greatest influence.
Develop internal scenario capability
Build the capability to investigate what-if questions internally, compare alternatives, and provide leadership with a structured assessment of their potential implications.
Understand historical performance
Examine how resources, flows, and operating relationships contributed to past results, strengthening the basis for explaining performance and identifying areas requiring further investigation.
Assess connected business implications
Evaluate pricing, capacity, and investment choices within a connected business model, considering their implications across operational resources, financial outcomes, and the planning horizon.

Practical Tools for Continued Application
Use the modeling workspace introduced during the program to construct resources, flows, decisions, and financial relationships. Run scenarios and examine how changes to assumptions affect the behavior of the model.
Retain the editable business model developed throughout the program. Review its resource structure, operating relationships, and financial calculations, and revisit the worked example to reinforce your understanding of the modeling process.
Apply a structured set of checks to the completed model. Document comparisons with historical evidence, tests of extreme conditions, and issues requiring further investigation before the model informs a decision.

Fadi is a strategy, digital-twin modeler and intelligence consultant who helps leadership teams connect strategic choices, the resources behind them and the evidence of results. For more than fourteen years across the GCC and MENA, he has advised governmental, semi-governmental and private organizations on strategy, modeling, performance and intelligence. He has modeled strategies, led strategy and performance system audits, and developed and cascaded strategy and performance systems for leading organizations. He has also delivered certification programs to more than 4,000 professionals, from C-suite to frontline, combining structured methods with practical applications in his delivery.
Meet the Method's Originator
Kim Warren
Originator of Strategy Dynamics
Kim developed the powerful Strategy Dynamics method when a strategy professor at London Business School. Standard strategy tools simply could not explain what, exactly, to do to deliver better performance into the future. He translated the solid, engineering-based principles of system dynamics into managerial language and a practical process organizations can apply to modeling any strategy, initiative or challenge.
Kim is author of the award-winning Competitive Strategy Dynamics (Wiley, 2002) and Strategic Management Dynamics (Wiley, 2008). He now offers a wide range of online courses to show leaders how to use “digital twin” business models and to train analysts and consultants in building those models.

PROGRAM-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS
What is the focus of CSDM?
CSDM develops the practical capabilities required to construct and validate a digital-twin business model. It covers model scope, resources, flows, decisions, constraints, feedback, and financial relationships.
Do I need a modeling background?
No prior modeling experience or programming knowledge is required. The program introduces the method through guided examples and builds the case model progressively from an empty workspace.
What is Silico?

Silico is the application used to construct and test the program's business models. Account setup guidance is provided before the program so that participants can prepare for the practical sessions.
What will I develop during the program?
You will build a working digital-twin model for the shared case, including its resource structure, flows, decision drivers, and financial relationships. You will also test its behavior against evidence and alternative conditions.
